I removed the number 2 plastic caps and spouts from my paper milk cartons before recycling and collected any pop bottle caps I came across (although those should be left ON for recycling), shredded them using ordinary scissors, and then used my craft heat tool to melt the shreds in a silicone mold. Number 2 plastic melts at 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 175 degrees Celsius with no fumes.

Stampers Anonymous offers a chipboard version of this exact shape if you would only use it once, or don’t die cut.
Strip of stamps die is Elizabeth Craft Designs from the Planner Essentials line and no longer seems to be available, nor can I find a current alternative from a major craft line. There is this one on Amazon:
This is my entry for today’s prompt in Junk Journal July. Find all the prompts on Instagram or YouTube @megjournals if you would like to craft along.
Most charities with thrift stores will take clothes, small household appliances and housewares, toys, small furniture, and some will pick up larger furniture. What do you do with the other stuff?
This is a detail from my Junk Journal July spread for the prompt “very vintage.” Junk Journal July is hosted by @megjournals.
This is outside my normal style, although I can’t resist buying the products when I watch Tim Holtz live on YouTube! I took this as a chance to try something new!
random tissue from packaging, and cream 2” wide mulberry paper ribbon
Mulberry paper ribbon is a craft supply that had a moment in the early aughts. I cannot find it anywhere new. The larger Stampin Up “waffle paper” rolls seem to be available on eBay, but I’ve tried every search term and gets me nowhere on any other website nor does it return any other brand. Flat mulberry paper is readily available, but not this crinkly paper on a roll.

I’m doing the prompts out of order, so this is coming near the end for me; I have only “letter to myself” and “photograph” to go. I’ve been keeping my supplies together in a box, and I took the little bits and scraps and made 10 layered tags with a journaling spot on each one. I then shorted some 4” x 6” glassine bags to suit the size of the tag, attaching the bags in a waterfall down the page. Finally, I decorated the edge with some leftover layered, sewn trim.
This is a photo of foil from a magazine ad! Short process video covers this method, plus vellum and paper bag pockets with glassine inserts from junk mail : https://youtu.be/8fjn8NS6MIY
Stampin Up vellum cardstock – let me know if you need a rep in the greater Houston area, happy to refer you to mine.
Vintage Stampin Up punches – check thrift shops and garage sales. These are out of fashion, and are heavy and bulky to store so crafters purge them. I used a 1” circle for the thumb notch, a 1 1/4” hexagram, and the “curly label”.
This is my spread for the Junk Journal July prompt “contrast.” I started with the fastest ink blending, using liquid drops of Distress Oxide reinker on mixed media paper with a light coat of gesso.

A hinge is just a piece of paper joining two other pieces of paper. I use a heavier-weight paper, scored and folded. You can score with a straight edge and a pencil or pen with the lead / point retracted, and fold against the edge of a table.
